Email 6.21.11

Well Hello

Sorry I didnt get my email off yesterday. It was a busy PDay. For some reason I had to get on a transfer train and GET TRANSFERRED DARNIT!!!! Yes the rumors and all the hype is true elder rudd has finally left Casper, Wyoming. President Layton called on Saturday and told me he needed to get me out of Casper before I apply for residency in casper or run for mayor. Me and Elder Horrocks were so bummed to leave each other we had such a fun time together. I really enjoying being companions with him. I am really going to miss it. But it will be alright.

Now the question.... Where Did Elder Rudd get transferred too? Is he still a ZL? Did he leave wyoming? What happened to Elder Rudd?

Elder Michael Corey Rudd
1102 Stanley Ave #3
Gillette, Wyoming 82716

Yes it is true.... Elder Rudd is still in Wyoming. I have now served in Every major city in Wyoming in our mission. Sheridan, Capser and Gillette. Woohoo! I will admit I really do want to get out and see more things and go to other parts of the mission but I do enjoy the work here in Wyoming. I really hope I get to go somewhere on the East side. But for the time being. Elder Rudd is now in Gillette, Wyoming. Cool stuff though.... We cover Wright!!!! I am going back to wright! YEs!!! It will be so much fun. Also! I get to go back to sheridan!! Oh yeah!!! :) I am so pumped! By the way my Comps name is Elder Barker from Payson, Utah. So yes Elder Hammond and Elder Barker are my only two utards. He was Elder Horrocks MTC Comp. He has been out about 18 months. He has been a zone leader for a month. I have so many great plans for the Gillette Zone. It has really struggled for quite some time. I remember being in Wright and just watch the zone really hurt. I cant wait to help change that. The work will be awesome. I can not wait to get out and do the work!!!!

Gillette 1st- Sister Hunt (mesa, az) & Greenie
Gillette 2nd- Elder Crossen & Elder Thomas
Gillette 3rd- Elder Rudd & Elder Barker
Gillette 4th- Elder Holmstead & Elder Ezzell
Newcastle- Elder Hall & Elder Williams
Buffalo- Elder Lund & Elder Beamis
Sheridan 1st- Sister Addison & Sister Hetling
Sheridan 2nd- Elder Dahl (MTC Comp) & Elder Esplin
Sheridan 3rd- Elder Gardner & Elder Holmes
Gillette Spanish- Elder Roller & Elder Ardnt

So cherie was supposed to be baptized on saturday in Casper. But we got a call from Cherie at about 1:30 in the morning telling us that she was in the hosptial and had gotten a yeast infection!!! So she could not be baptized. So it was a major bummer. But as soon as that is cleared up she will be baptized. Bad news was that Elder Pugmire and his parents had driven from Salt Lake to come up for the baptism and he was going to be baptizing her! So we had to call him and tell him the bad news! It was such a bummer. They were okay with it. They took us out to breakfast and all. But it was still a major bummer. But it was good. Cherie will get baptized and wants me to come baptize her in casper when it all clears up. Also Ashley Kahtala wants me to come baptize her in casper too. So I might be taking a couple trips to casper!

But yes mom we are always on the move. We are never stopping. In two weeks we have Zone Leader Council again. So, we are taking off to Rapid. Then next week we will be heading to sheridan. Just alot of crazy things. Lots of fun though.

Elder Gardner who is serving in Sheridan had to go home for knee surgery too. He went home from Sioux Falls too. He came out the transfer I went home and went home two transfers after I came back. Right now we are in a threesome until he gets a new comp so we have talked alot alot alot about our surgeries and all the good stuff. :)

I am really really really going to miss casper. But I already know the Gillette Area and Zone very well. I am excited to just go right too work.

But holy canoly so much fun!! I took like everything I had in casper to gillette. I filled the whole back of the trailer. :) I will start to send things home. But Man I dont travel light thats for sure!

I am so happy to do what I do and to serve the lord. The gospel is awesome. In the words of mi papa. "The church is true, what else matters?" So good! I love everything.

I love you all so much.

Happy Papas Day Dad.
I love you. You are my hero and you will never know how much I admire you. I love you you are the best.

Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Ello me Mother.
Top of the morning to you. Cherio! Ello Govenor. I am so british! :) I am doing absolutely wonderful. I never ever want to leave casper at all. I love it here. its such a party! :) I love all the missionaries. The casper zone has become like my baby. I never want to leave it. I dont trust anyone with it. :) But I am grateful for all the success that we have had in casper. The zone has been on fire. We have had two baptisms this past week. The lord has greatly blessed us so much. So much. Been awesome! The mission goal for a six month period January-June has been 150 baptisms. Never before have we had anywhere close at the beginning of june we had 120. We just need thirty more!!!!! This week we had nine and last week I think we had six. And our zone will have four this weekend. We are so excited!!! We are going to hit out goal! The lord is blessing us so much!!!! I am so grateful for all this work that we have to do!!
Cherie Brantley!!! She is totally going to get baptized on saturday!!! We are so pumped!!! She is so excited!! I cant wait!! We have been working with her the whole time I have been in casper! She has made some huge huge huge steps. She doesnt cross her self before and after prayer anymore. She gave me a box on thursday and told me how thankful she was more and showing her the light. She told me to open it up when I was alone. But I opened it up with horrocks and it was her cross that she wore around her neck. Her most valuable collectible. I was almost in tears. She is so ready to be baptized and the lord is blessing her so much. It is so wonderful. :) I love the gospel and I love the opporunity to serve the lord. YEAH!!
We went over and saw rosie again and she was so excited!!! She was like yeah yesterday I went visiting teaching for the first time and I now have a calling in the primary. Me and Horrocks did heel clicks when we got outside of their house. Because that is how it is to work. They get used to the ward and the ward just takes over and the fellowship and starts in on helping them in the gospel!!! :) So awesome! Yeah buddy!
Zone Leader Council was good but different. Me and Horrocks are now like the older zone leaders so it is way different. It used to be we were the ones teaching and learning from the older zone leaders now we are the older zone leaders and it is way weird. But I love helping all those missionaries feel the gospel and understand it and work hard to apply it!!
Tell that mom for him to get a sleeping bag like I did. Small and thin but still warm. He will regret having a huge one. You can always have more blankets and stuff. Have them get a smaller one it is so much more beneficial. :)
I am looking for some brown socks. if anyone can find some good brown socks. Send them my way if you would. That would be awesome! :)
I love this gospel. if someone started to bash with you, (DONT BASH!) It goes no where. We can prove anyone wrong but we cant help them be converted. I love this so much. I love to serve the lord and I love to share the gospel. I was just thinking. Many people say well its just too hard to do. How do missionaries do it? We just talk to people thats all we do. We dont do anything else. We just talk to people. Thats all it takes. OPEN YOUR MOUTH and let the lord fill your mouth with what to say.
I love you all so very much. You are awesome! Be strong Believe!!
I love you
Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Buenos Noches!!!

Busy Busy Busy.

We are in gillette again for Zone Leader Council we leave in a couple of hours to head to Rapid City for yet another great meeting. I cant tell you how well me and elder horrocks are getting along! I love Elder Horrocks. We are having such a blast. Our zone is yet again on top of the charts. Last week we topped yet another ton of records. The Casper Zone is on Fire! I am so grateful for our great work!!! :) I love it!!!

Sorry about the dead racoon! I thought it was funny. Thats wyoming for you. I could show you a whole lot of worse pictures! But, I wont! :) We found a dead mouse and a bunch of stuff but I wont send those pictures. the only reason I sent the racoon pic is because it was classic cartoon roadkill, you know? Feet up in the air, tongue hanging out. All that good stuff. We laughed til we were sick!! :)

Two weeks til transfers come down. It is still looking like elder foulger and me switch. I go to gillette and he goes to Casper. So we will see. But so far thats what it is looking like. I hope President throws a curve ball. But who knows? By the way I have an idea! Elder Foulger is from Mesa. He lives like right by MVT. I told him that I am going to have to cook something right before he goes home and then he can come over to the house and eat something of yours and be the judge of our iron chef cook off. Oh yeah. Your going down momma rudd. Elder Rudd is a crazy chef! :) But we will see. I told him to definitley come over to the house and see ya'll.

So great news. Cherie who we have been working with since I got to casper is being baptized on June 18th. Transfer call day. But Elder Pugmire is coming from Utah to baptize her and all. It is going to be way cool. Her hold up was joseph smith and a modern day prophet. We worked on it alot and finally I got the idea to show her on the lords errand. the movie of President Monsons life and she called us as soon as she got done with it which was 1130pm and woke us up. But it is a great thing to be woken up for. She told us she knows President Monson is a true prophet. We went over there at ten the next day and invited her to be baptized. So june 18th cherie is getting baptized. We are so excited!! She is way fun too. It will be a great day.

So Josh in the YSA branch who hasnt been to church since he was eight. We have been working with for a while. Thinks that the church is all brain wash and that god doesnt exist. But we have been working with him. Week by week he gets better. He has opened up and just doing awesome. He comes to church every week. Bought himself a white shirt and a tie and I tie the tie for him every week. He is doing awesome. He is 18 moved up from Durango, Colorado and was not keeping the word of wisdom so we invited him to and that night he went home tossed all his coffee and smashed all his bongs and his liquor. Way cool kid and he is getting back on track.

Chance Vance. So fast sunday on sunday. YSA branch we are sitting there and this random guy gets up and bears his testimony. He had just walked in to the church and he was baptized when he was eight in Rawlins, Wy about 2 hours away from casper. He is on probabtion but he gets up there and says "i dont know what the he** I am doing here" But I am here because the church is true, because the book of mormon is true. I forgot that a while back but I am here to figure that out again. So we are going to be meeting with him and teaching him. So great. So many people are coming out of the wood works! The lord is preparing and reparing so many to come to the church and recieve all of those blessings that the church has in store for us! I love it!!

Rosie is doing soooooooo good! We are so happy for her!! She just glows. She has such a solid testimony too. Sunday was great. We were in gospel principles and she was answering questions, pullin out scriptures, I leaned over to her and said "look at you, mrs. know-it-all" she is so awesome. She is on fire!!!!! I am so happy for her and her family and preparing themselves for all of the blessings that are in store!! :)

I got home for surgery on June 10th. I went back on sept 2. So Almost a year!! :)

I am sorry you didnt like the salad. Something had to of been different! I will ask sister layton today. But the salad I had was awesome!!!!!!

Hey just a couple wants not needs if anybody wants to get me anything everyone is always asking me.

-i really would enjoy being sent the mormon times and the church news.
-any ties. I know I know (i have a problem!)
-walmart gift cards
-subway gift cards

whatever. everyone has been asking me just thought I would throw some of those in there.

In glenrock wyoming. There is a two pound burger with a pound and a half of fries that I am taking on wednesday!!! :( Its going to be crazy!!! But I am doing it. I will take pictures! Crazy crazy crazy!

I just wanted to tell all of you how much I love you and appreciate all that you do for me. I love the gospel and I love the church! :) Be strong Believe!

I love you!!

Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Hello!

What a great week. The casper zone is on fire! We just topped and destroyed some records. We taught so many lessons this week. It was awesome! We are very very excited to start this new month tomorrow and start on our new goals!! :) We are so excited. Good stuff going on. I am starting to get really sad when i am starting to realize in three weeks I will most likely not be in casper anymore. it is such a bummer. i love casper so much. It is a great place to serve and have so many wonderful relationships with people here. I love casper so much. I have learned so much here and the casper zone is like my baby I dont want any body else to have it. :) So what I am selfish its a good selfish. :)

Sunday- me and elder horrocks were asked to speak in sacrament. We spoke on the natural man. It was definitely an interesting topic to speak on. We were trying to find out how we could speak on it without rebuking the entire ward. It was an awesome sunday though. We had cheri brantley come to church. Cheri is an awesome lady she has a ton of health problems but she will be baptized. I am so grateful to her she has taught me so much about life and just everything in general. Usaully about once or twice a week we go over and walk with her around her trailer park and it has been very good. Our talks went very well and she really enjoyed them. :) Our ward mission leader brother hadsell blessed his baby and asked us to be in the circle to bless the new baby. :) So much good happening. I love it all.

Well on P-day yesterday we had a crazy day. At 9 am we had a breakfast with the burgess family in the ward, they are so cool. We had chocolate gravy. My second time having it. It is crazy!!! I love it though. Its made with like 4 sticks of butter, cocoa, creme thats it! Crazy stuff!!! But its so heavy. I could only eat two mini waffles of the stuff. But woah. i sent a pic home of it.

Next week we are heading to Rapid for Zone Leader Council again. It is really needed. It is such a spiritual re charge for all of us. Most Zl's call in zone leader retreat. But I am so excited to be with President and Sister Layton and to hear their council and advice.
I am now a homeade pizza officianto. :) I love cooking! :) I have set up dinner appointments where I am the one cooking. :) It has been alot of fun.

I have come to realize alot on my mission of how the gospel has strengthened me and my family. the foundation that all of us want in our lives only comes through the savior jesus christ and no one else. The gospel is true .. what else matters. brothers and sisters open your eyes and your ears and most of all your hearts. the truth stands before us all. We have this message, Embrace it. love it. Learn of it.

I did get the package. I loved it! I do need more stamps though if you could. :) Please. Tell ryan his long awaited letter is in the mail. Please tell people to write me. I am getting mail pretty good. but I always enjoy more. I love the gospel so much.

Its all true.

Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Baptism

HELLO!

Well to start of HOLY BUCKETS WE HAD A BAPTISM!!! Rosie Rodriguez was baptized on saturday!! She had told us that the family in the 6th ward that she wanted to be here was gone and after we looked into it a little bit we found out that they were still in town and called her and said "rosie the olsens are in town we could do your baptism tomorrow if you still want to she was crying and telling me that their is alot of family issues going on right now. Then got a call later that day about 5 o'clock and she said "LETS DO IT TOMORROW" So at 730 at the stake center that night she was interviewed by our district leader Elder Woffinden and then at 7 O'clock pm the next day she was baptized by some guy named Elder Rudd and then on sunday was confirmed by Brother Olsen in the 6th Ward!! :)))))))) sO EXCITING. Probably the best weekend of my mission ever!!! Diana Orellana (4th ward spanish investigator) was baptized last sunday the 15th and was confirmed on sunday the 22nd. Because we have to do convert confirmations on sundays. But holy buckets!! She had me to the confirmation too. So on Saturday i got to baptize Rosie and on sunday I got to stand in the circle when rosie was confirmed and then I got to Confirm Diana! Holy Buckets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Love being a missionary!! It was such a good week!!! Pictures are being sent by the way!!

Well holy buckets elder valentine went home how weird is that. I have about as much time as he had when he was in mesa. I bet that was a way good visit. I really liked those two Elders. I would of loved to serve with Either one of them. Elder Horrocks reminds me alot of Elder Valentine actually. But those two Elders will have to come down and visit some more. I really enjoy it all. i love doing what we do. I could knock on doors all day long. :) Really I could. Not when I am not a missionary. There is bunch of guys here doing the security systems and they knock like 12 hours a day. NO WAY!

Last night was a blast. We had planned a Night with the Bunns. Investigator family that dad (jeremy) cant give up word of wisdom. And because of word of wisdom issues he has minor concerns like Prophets, Tattoos, Teleprompters in Conference. They whole family wants to be baptized but they are all waiting on Jeremy. Mariah (mom) has gotten rid of her piercings has gotten rid of all her teas and cleaned up so crazy awesome. Her girls are starting to dress more modestly. But we had a food night planned that I came in and cooked!! By the way I am known in the mission as two things "Papa Rudd" and "Elder that flipped car" But Papa Rudd because I cook so much. But for the bunns I bough some 56 cent pizza dough made that up and made pizza's and calzones for the bunns oh man so good!!! I was so proud of my food. They ask me who taught you? I said momma dont raise no fool. I love to cook so much. I am exactly like you mom. I love it. I love seeing others enjoy it. I tell ya momma. We will have to do a Iron Chef Cook- Off when I get home. I have honed my skills and am pretty proud of my skills. Your going down! :) I love you though! But it was a blast and while we were cooking got to talk about so much with them. I made some killer pizzas and they were dying over how well I knew how to cook. I told them I didnt get this big from cereal and mac and cheese. :)

Elder Horrocks is from Pocatello, Idaho. He is so awesome. He was in band in High School called the Ice Cold Crickets. :) Crazy huh! He is way awesome though I love Elder Horrocks. The zone is doing so well. I am going to be really bummed if I get transferred which probably is going to happen!! :( I love casper so much. But the bummer thing is!! ITS STILL SNOWING SOME DAYS!!! one day will be 75 degrees beautiful two days later. 30 degrees snowing! I am like come on!! Give me a Break!!!

When Bishop Linford announced that I would be confirming Diana on Sunday he said and "Bishop Rudd will be confirming Diana today" Everyone was just dying laughing and he did not catch on. So I have been recruiting counselors and Elders Quorm President for the Casper 1st 1/2 Ward. It was way funny. He still hasnt caught on.

The Linfords. Bishop's Son and Daughter in law that I told you about last week are getting a Divorce and she is taking the kids and moving to Colorado. :( So sad. She is a little mentally crazy and we feel so bad for the whole family.

Lavaughn Bushmaker- She should be getting baptized soon. She will not decide on a date. So we are meeting with her on thursday and going to try and resolve any concerns at all with her. Hopefully set a date. :)

I love the gospel so much. I cant imagine my life without it. I would not have all that the lord has given me for sure. I am a child of god and the lord has sent me here to Casper, Wyoming and to the South Dakota Rapid City Mission because he loves me and loves those who I am to touch and see. I love you all so much. never forget THE CHURCH IS TRUE.... WHAT ELSE MATTERS!!!

I love you

LOVE,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

New Companion

Hey Hey Hey

Well I am so excited to have my new companion Elder Horrocks! I love the guy. Well this week has been nothing but busy busy busy. Havent had time to do much work this week yet because of the transfers and all the business that has been going on. But I sure am having a good time. I am so relaxed! I finally get to be myself now. I finally get to let my hair down again. Me and Elder Horrocks are getting along so well. its awesome. Tomorrow we have zone conference in casper for just the casper zone. Me and Elder Horrocks are giving a training and President and Sister Layton. It will be way good. We are excited. I love zone conference. It looks like most likely that I will be transferred to gillette at the end of this transfer. We will see though. I am not sure. But about 95% sure.

I am glad to hear that you are all getting some rest from thing 1 and thing 2. I miss those two so much. I want to squeeze them so bad. I love those cuties! I loved hearing from them and seeing their cute faces on sunday. I cant believe that riley is getting so big! She is such a big girl! :)

So crazy crazy crazy. Last night at our dinner appointment sis linford (bishop linfords daughter in law) fed us and she told us that she realized that the church was not for her and she took off her garments!!!!!!!! Me and Elder Horrocks were baffled. She believes the church is true still just wants to drink and wants to do whatever she wants.

Brothers and Sisters. Yes we have a lot of rules. But we have a lot of rules to keep us safe!!! We would not have these things if heavenly father did not love us and I promise you that he knows what is best for us! :) I love the gospel. i love it so much. It is a protection it is a comfort. I am so lucky to be a member of this church. i love all that the gospel is and I know it is true!!

The gospel is true what else matters!

It is going to be short one today. Dont have much to say other than what I mean the most I love you

I love you all

Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Happy Easter

HAPPY EASTER!!

First off did you happen to get my package? I saw basically the same box was shipped back to me in your easter box. But I have been freaking out about this box. I sent it march 15th and havent heard anything about it from you all so give me a quick line letting me know yay or nay.

Great News ELDER LAUFENBERG FINALLY GOT HIS VISA!!! We are driving to Wright today. President is going to be in Wright to do an interview for baptism so we are dropping him off in wright. We are leaving here in about an hour or two. But it is soooo crazy. I got to train Elder Laufenberg and have a ton of fun with the guy. We have been in a tri-panionship for about 3 months. It will be wayyy weird without him being here but life goes on. We are so excited for him though. We got a call yesterday fro President and when we went home we broke out the sparkling cider and went crazy. it was a blast though. Wayy cool. But his voyage leaves on wednesday from rapid and then flies to denver then to houston then to Sau Paulo, Brazil!!! We are so excited for him, but we will miss him alot.

But easter was lots of fun. The primary asked us to dress up as peter james and john. I was peter, elder laufenberg was james and hardwick was john. It was alot of fun. Way spiritual. We told our account of the easter story in their eyes. We ate dinner over at Bishop Linfords home. It was a massive feast. It was sooooooo good though. Man! We pigged out. So good. P.s. I love potato salad. We spent alot of easter getting laufenberg ready to leave but it was good. Also we had an easter egg hunt and I won! I beat a two year old. Oh yeah! :)

Kassie Walters got baptized on saturday and wanted me to speak at her baptism on the holy ghost so we gladly ablidged. They are such a fun family. The walters are such great people. We ate over at their house on saturday night and I love hanging out with them. they are someone you will all have to definitly have to meet! Big fans of the walter family!! It was so good though. We had a couple investigators there. Great great great day!

Lavonne will definitly have to be baptized before the wedding so we are working on her getting baptized sometime in may probably like the 21st. Way cool though. She is doing awesome. Way solid. Has her own set of scriptures and all.

I loved the package! It was awesome. Elder Hardwick and Laufenberg thought you were telling me something by the whole get back to work stuff. I told them it was for them. We taught 30 lessons this last week. I TOTALLY INVITED SOMEONE TO BE BAPTIZED ON THEIR DOORSTEP!!!!! It was insane! I loved it! But she said no but didnt say absolutely no so yeah baby! In the words of my greenie "yeah buddy"

our zone is awesome!!!!!!!! We taught 210 lessons as a zone!!!! We taught 135 to investigaors!!! We are doing so awesome. got a call from president saying we are leading the whole midwest for zone reports. It was sooooo good to hear that, i started crying. My focus as a leader is to make sure my elders and sisters are doing better each week and feeling the love that not only I have for them but especially the love their savior has for them. I love being a leader not for recognition not because alot of the fun things we get to do. But I love being a leader to help those who need that help. I love this gospel their is nothing better than it. I dare someone to try and tell me otherwise.

Church is at 9 in casper 1st ward. So we go from 9-12 and so lets plan one o clock mesa time. Which is two o'clock Wyoming. That whole daylight savings is just stupid!

Sounds like things are going really really good at home. I love it so much. Did you happen to talk to uncle kelly about the guy in the ward here?

Still dont know if Elder Rudd will stay in wyoming very much longer! He could be heading somewhere else. Stay tuned in! :)

We have ZLC next monday and tuesday so I will be emailing from Gillette, Wyoming.

This is the gospel. It is true. DONT YOU EVER DOUBT IT OR DENY IT! This is the true church of jesus christ. Please do not ever forget that!

I love you all sooo much.

I want to have alot to talk about on sunday!! i am excited to talk to you all.

Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Hey!
But yeah, We have been super super crazy busy. Elder Laufenberg is still here in Casper. I love this guy. But he is doing such an awesome job. I dont want him to leave. Any day now he will get his call. I was on an spilt with a new member in our ward and we found out that he speaks Porteguese. So elder laufenberg is going to go over to his house a couple times a week and talk with him. Elder Laufenberg is a kid in a candy store when he heard that.

Also guess what! We were visiting some Less Actives that Bishop Linford wanted us to go and see and guess who I ran into. A guy by the name of Gary Hansen. He told me he lived in Vancouver, Washington. I told him I have family up there and he asked me who. first I said Floyd and Colleen smith and he said no. Then I said Kelly and Jodee Smith and he said "the chiropractor?" I said ya!!! Turns out Gary Hansen was in Uncle Kellys ward and was pretty good friends with him. They went to Ty's Homecoming and all. it was crazy!!!!! I was like wow! Thats way cool. The world keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Our Zone is ON FIRE!!! We led the mission for all 22 weeks I have been in casper!!!!! It is so awesome!!! We taught a total of 190 lessons as a zone!!! 190!!! 119 of those to Investigators!!! It was awesome!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!! We had three baptisms this past week to for our zone. Someone cool off these Missionaries because they are on fire!!!!!!! I love the work that they are doing though. We are so proud of all of them so much!!!

For the 1st Ward. Oh man someone try and put out the fire. I DARE YA! We have been trying to relay to all our missionaries our purpose to INVITE INVITE INVITE! So we are setting the example. Inviting everyone to be baptized. Its like the best two years. "Elder Rudd and Elder Hardwick invited 97 people" Not that much but man!!! Its awesome. We have caught the fire. We now have 4 on date for baptism. Ed Tucker for april 30th (which we will probably have to set back a little bit due to understanding but he is getting baptized) Rosie Rodriguez (may21st) She was at church on sunday and loved it! So good! But she is way excited. Charly (may 14th) he still needs to get married and all. But we might have to push it back some due to that. But he will be baptized!!! And our new person is Lavaugh Bushmaker. She is engaged to Brother Romero in the ward. (Brother Romero was married to Sis. Bertanogle's (wright) sister and she died from breast cancer 6 months ago) so he is getting married to Lavaughn on July 2nd. She wants to wait til after the baptism. But everyone else wants her to get baptized sooner. So we will work on that for sure. But holy moly! We got a run away train here. These elders are on fire!! :)

I totally Wish that Elder Hammond was still my companion. I love that guy. I know me and him are going to be friends for a long time. I love him man! He is one of those elders that like after the mission when he gets home he comes down and stays and is like my best bud. He is! But yeah! I love that kid!

there is a 12 year old boy who was baptized about two years ago by some elders all alone. Not his parents or grandparents or brothers or sisters just himself all alone. It was tough for him but we are reaching out to him right now and trying to help him come back to church. His name is Brandon Wilson and we stopped by there on saturday and he was outside shooting hoops and we started playing with him and it totally made his day. Man! I wish I had a little brother. It was so cool. He came to church on sunday too. When he got there he ran up to me and was like man yesterday was the coolest thing in the world. We totally kicked the other elders butts! Such a cool kid. He wants us to perform in the Talent show with him too. So that will be interesting. I am the host of the talent show so we will see. But It was just an awesome experience to see that.

Tomorrow we have President Layton coming down to do a Specialized training for our zone. Me and Elder Hardwick are instructing about Invitations to be baptized. Then president told me he said "well you elders do that and I will instruct on something that i feel impressed on" I love that man so much. I am so lucky to have one Mission President my entire mission. SPeically President Layton. I was talking to him the other day and he told me now you know you are going to have to come and see the Gila Valley Temple right? I said yes. "Well when you and your wife come up, I know of a great bed and breakfast in Thatcher and a great cook and the grill. I love this guy. I am so taking him up on that too. A bunch of us plan to go to their homecoming in thatcher.

But wow! HAPPY BIRHTDAY TO MOM, WHITNEY, CHELSEY, BRYLEE (KYMBERS SISTER) AND KIRK!! I love all of you very much!! You are so awesome all of you!

Transfer calls are on MAy7th. Mothers day is may 8th. and if I do get transferred I will leave on MAy 9th. and when we skype on mothers day you will know if I am staying or going. So that works out perfectly. I already have a member in the 1st ward who will let us. SO it will be good stuff.

I love the "no talking DJ" Everyone always wants me to do my Radio Voice. its funny. I miss being a DJ. its a ton of fun. But I am glad my No talk partner will do it too! Good job kirk! Remember kirk you got to get out there and do the Cha Cha Slide. :) Total Package Entertainment Rule #1 HAve fun while you are doing it.

Everyone of my companions have asked me why I am so charitable. why i do their laundry why I do the dishes this and that, I always tell them because of my parents. I have not met two more charitable people on this earth than you two. FOr the dishes part. I tell them you have no idea how many dishes I have washed!!! :) But thank you for always being that example.

Easter is this week! Yay! We get to dress up as disciples and go into primary and teach the children. We are so excited. But easter. Hmmmm. Spices would be awesome for easter. Some orbit white gum would be awesome. Walmart gift cards. Really whatever elder rudd loves. :) Some hichews would be good too.

I love all of you so very much. I cant wait to hear and see all of you. Remember this easter season. I love you very much.

I LOVE YOU!

Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

ZLC Meeting

Hello!
Well gosh darn I seriously thought that we were out of the snow. But Wyoming Weather reared its dumb head again. We got about 5 inches over the weekened! It was wet snow so it all melted off. But gosh darn. We woke up and were like what! It was crazy. But yes!
ZOne LEader Council was awesome. We spent the two days at the mission home and had a blast. Mom, I sent you a recipe for one of the best mexican salads I have ever had its a cornbread salad and holy buckets it was awesome. Also sister layton makes this buttermilk syrup is to die for. But yes. It was a dang long trip!!! Me and Elder Hardwick drove up to Gillette sunday night got to gillette about 8 o'clock and stayed with the zl's there. Woke up did a little bit of shopping and then took off to rapid city. Got to rapid at about 3 and then played some ball. Then went to the mission home and had our zlc for two days and then at about 2 on tuesday we took off to gillette again and did some housekeeping things there and then we had to stop in wright!!! Yay. I got to see the daltons! Since they closed the wright area for missionaries we took some of the stuff for the glenrock area and ourselves. It was so good to be in wright again. But Dakota Dalton got his mission call going to South Africa! Then after we were done in wright we took off to douglas, wy and stayed the night with the elders there and then woke up the next day and headed to casper. Didnt get to casper until like 2 in the afternoon. We were so darn tired. But it was a great trip.
Me and Elder HArdwick decided to start a new thing in casper. District Leader Council and we had our three district leaders: Elder Stucki (DOuglas) ELder Woffinden (Capser 3rd ward) Elder Call (Casper 6th ward) I made breakfast and we all had a good time. ME and ELder Hardwick bought a huge huge huge white board. It was actually a shower board that works as a white board and all. It was massive. It was 8 foot by 4 foot. We have our area on one and our Zone on the other and we had all of our DL's over and were able to have a great face to face meeting and were able to train them on leadership.
Awesome news this week along with ED tucker for on date April 30th. We extended two more invites for baptism. One for Charly Unegsk he accpeted!!!!!!! MAy 14th is his date for baptism!!! Another is Rosie Rodriguez! She is a part member that we helped paint there entire inside of their house and we invited her and she is being baptized May 21st!! :) So holy buckets!! Alot of the work we have been doing in our area is weeding our the tares alot of the elders in the area just saw alot of not progressing people and we either invite them to be baptized or they drop us so its been going AWESOME!
We got a call from the assistants and they told us that we found 162 new investigators as a mission in one week. President Laytons goal has been 150 and we havent ever reached it but guess what!!! We did!! President Layton was in tears last night. The work is going awesome. We heard at ZLC that the Rapid City South Dakota Mission is beating the other 20 missions around them. That includes the Minnesotta, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, Colorado, Illinois, Oklahoma and all. We have the least amount of missionaries and we are doing AWESOME! :)
I cant believe that it is almost easter! Time just flies! :) But yes. I am so happy for the success here. I love this work!!!
I love you all so much. I am trying to write out things to email But I love you all!
Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Awesome Conference

Hey!
FYI Daylight savings happened a couple weeks ago I am back an hour ahead of ya'll.
What an awesome weekend. We are in gillette right now and in a couple hours we are heading to rapid city for ZLC. Elder Hardwick is a great guy. I have really enjoyed just the last week with him. Me and Elder Hilbun had alot of rough times. it was a tough couple of transfers with that guy. But Elder Hardwick and Myself are alot alike and we are working really hard. We had a rough week last week. We spent like the whole week moving in the Glenrock Elders. We drove back and forth to glenrock about 5 times one day. Its about 30 miles out of casper. It was crazy! But it has been alot of fun.
ED TUCKER! 87 YEARS OLD! IS ON DATE FOR APRIL 30TH!!! So crazy!! We are so stoked! He is excited too. Everyone in our zone has someone on date but one. It has been alot of fun!! So exciting.
Sister Hunt is in Gillette 1st ward and she is actually a Mesa Jack Rabbit!! Me and some of the Toros were giving her a hard time but, she is actually cousins to the Sabins. Kristen and Amy and all them. She is their cousins. So it was pretty cool to talk with her about all that she was down at our last bi-zone in Casper. But yes she is here in Gillette and Actually sitting right next to me.
HOLY BUCKETS! I got hit with the spiritual hammer for the last couple days just to let you know. Conference is so amazing!! I love hearing the prophet speak!! AND the new temple announced in Fort Collins, CO is now the closest to Casper, WY. Its only about 2 1/2 hours away now rather than 4 hours to billings, MT or Denver, CO. So exciting. It is amazing to see so many rejoice in the coming of a temple so close to them. The lord is alive in wyoming and all over the world. NOTHING can stop his work from progressing.
But conference was amazing I couldnt take notes quick enough. President Monson is a spiritual giant. I wish I could explain in words how my testimony was strenghtened and just exploded from the spiritual power of that man. When president monson was telling us of his love for us. On your mission the relationship that you have with the savior jesus christ and heavenly father will never be the same. When I was set apart I was set apart AWAY from the world. I have a bubble around me and as long as I am doing what I am doing right the lords power and strength will be with me. I have been called to serve for the lord. In every way I am a personal representative of jesus christ. In every way ALL of us are personal representatives of jesus christ. Let us always live worthy of that calling.
It started to heat up here in casper it was 76 degrees the other day but just like wyoming weather "wait 5 minutes it will change" The next morning we woke up to 5 inches of snow. I am like COME ON! This is just ridiculous! But the weather is so gorgeous and so green and AWESOME.
Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us. We have to be the ones to achieve what he knows of our potential. Sometimes prayers are answered through other people or through others actions. People are waiting for us to act and answer their prayers. Please remember who each and every one of you are you are a chosen son or daughter of god here on this earth for a reason not by happen stance but for a reason straight from heavenly father. Please dont give in to temptation. please dont let satan win and let him bring you down to gulf of misery and endless woe. (hel 5:12) We are here and we are THE ARMY OF GOD. Imagine what we can do with that power. We are all given that. All of us are. USE IT. We can combat satan. The war in going on today good vs evil. Wrong vs Right. CTR! Choose the Right. We must do what heavenly father wants. We must do what he needs. we are called today to help him. Please help him. No time in the world is more important than now. Our brothers and sisters are out their. They are searching for truth. They are searching for help. HELP THEM.
Today my heart is so full for my love of my heavenly father and Jesus Christ. We all have that help, will we use it. I know that My redeemer lives. I know that he loves me and guides me in all that I do. Let him guide you.
alot of our work as Zone Leaders is to help our zone. Every week that our zone tops us. Every week that we fall to the bottom of the zone we are so excited!!! Weird huh? We are called as zone leaders to help the other 8 Areas in our zone to improve and succeed. This last week was a tough week. But we will rebound and we will climb back to where we need to be. When you are a zone leader their really isnt a senior companion you are both equals. But for me being in the area longer yes, I am somewhat in charge. Which really isnt much because we are equal.
Well I know that some birthdays are coming up this month and one in 10 days. :)
So many families in casper want to meet Momma Rudd. I talk alot about my Momma because I love my momma. She is the light in my life and keeps me going. :)
I am so grateful to both of you mom and Dad for all you do for me and the guidance throughout my life that I feel from you. You two are my greatest examples on this earth. I think of it as a Mission Companionship. the two of you together complete one another. Momma, you have so much love and so much care for EVERYONE no one is left out of your care and comfort what a wonderful Christ like attribute. Dad when I study preach my gospel and look up the word humility and dilligence I have written all over the margins "my dad" because I have never seen someone work so hard and so humble to love and help everyone that you meet. Dad you are a Latter Day Saint, what a great christlike attribute. Both of you together the words to best describe you two is Service and Love. Be strong and continue in this work and many marvelous and wonderful blessings will unfold to that which you stand in need of. Remember that and cherish that.
I know that I said alot today but please read over what I said because it really means alot to me. This gospel is my life this work is my life and I want all others to feel of the blessings that are being poured out and the windows of heaven are opening and my understanding and my love for my savior has increased so much.
I love you all so very much.
Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Transfers!!!

Mi Familia,

Well welcome to crazy town USA. Casper, Wyoming. I am elder rudd and I will be your guide! Transfers have been nuts. Saturday we got our calls from President. Elder Hilbun is leaving casper and going to Minot, ND. Elder Hardwick from Gillette my old Zone Leader is coming down to Casper to be my companion. Crazy! I know. But its going insane.

Our zone now looks like this

1st ward- elder rudd & Elder Hardwick & Elder Laufenberg
2nd ward- Elder Shumway & Elder Drabandt
3rd ward- Elder Woffinden (DL) & Elder Neff (New)
4th ward- Elder CLinger & Elder Ardnt (Same)
5th ward- Sister Addison & Sister Hetling
6th ward- ELder Call (DL) new & Elder Nielsen
8th ward- Sister Webb & Sister Monson
DOuglas- Elder Hatch & Elder Stucki
Glenrock (NEw area opened) Elder Buchanon & Greenie

We are so excited. Me and elder hardwick plan to lead the zone to even to higher goals. We had a slower week this week. We still topped the mission but for casper it is slow. We need to stay above. I am so proud of all the elders and sisters here in casper!

Sad News about wright. THEY CLOSED WRIGHT!!!! maN! They took the missionaries out of wright and who knows when they will put them back. :( Bummer! But Elder Hammond got transfered to Marshall, MN which is the national headquarters for Schwanns. :) But he is excited to leave. But I am so bummed. Everytime we stop in wright we will have to stop in wright and see people. Elder Hardwick being from gillette and me in wright we are going to have some conflicting times. But oh well.

Laufenberg is still in Casper. Today I checked mail and there was a letter from the mission office I told him it was his VISA he was so stoked but it wasnt. :(

Melissa Henricks- oh my she is going down hill in a spiral she is smoking about 4 packs a day now and yeah. She still wants to bible studies and all but she is not doing well. She plans on leaving casper and getting out though.

We got a call from curtis cameron this past week and he dropped us hard core! :( HE said it was causing a riff between him and his wife. But oh well. Missionaries will come to him again and they will accept the gospel. They live right by a member so we are going to sick a member on them.

Debra- is a new investigator she is starting to read and pray and so far so good we are excited to continue teaching her she lives a mexican style villa reminds me of home so much. ]

Ed- still kicking and has been to church twice now. He is close. He always talks about his salvation and all. So he is definitly progressing.

MArcus- he is having a hard time. his wife was killed in a car accident she was hit by a drunk driver. the anniversary of her death is april 1st. So he is really having a hard time. But we are there for him. LAst time he broke down. He came a gave me a hug though. It is such a good time when we meet with him.

Rob- Such an awesome guy. We met with him on saturday and will meet with him sometime this week.

Oh yeah! Guess who we met with last night. The Johnsons. They are the family who the little girl passed away on Casper Mountain being hit by the snow boarded but they finally came home and Kelly Johnson is looking alot better. Alot of brain damage and nerve damage. But its good. So awesome.

I know its way short. Next week will be longer.

I love you all so much.

Love,
Elder Rudd

Hey,

Well how is my family and friends doing on this awesome day. Casper, Wyoming is warming up. It usually is about 55 during the day. The suit coats come off very soon! YAy! So excited! But the weather is beautuful except the darn wind! Its insane!!! But I love it here like always!!

Tell grandma and Shannon that cards are on their way didnt get a chance to get them out with Leadership Conference in gillette! Sorry about that. But mom thank you very much for your card on St. Patricks Day it meant alot to me.
Being in leadership is always a burden. Dealing with the sisters here in casper have given me so many grey hairs. I found out that one of the sisters doesnt like me at all. They told their DL that "i dont praise them enough" I talked with President about it and he just started laughing. Because as a zone leader you hardly have any communication with anyone in your zone you do everything through your DL's so yeah. Just been dealing with some zone issues. We broke more records this week. The zone is on fire. I think some of the elders and sisters think I am too strict. But oh well. I know how much potential they have and they are seeing it. Me and Elder Hilbun are just two really driven ZL's and we dont expect less out of us so why would we expect less out of them. So just alot of missionary drama their. But things are on the up swing.

Transfer Calls happen this saturday. Elder Hilbun will be leaving casper. I am going to guess my new companion to be either Elder Wolfe or Elder Cutler or a New ZL. Elder Wolfe is in Minot. ND and Elder Cutler is in Sioux Falls, SD as ZL's. Elder Hilbun has taught me alot and we work well together but basically elder hilbun is my elder farmer. We dont mesh well. But I will miss the guy alot. Elder Laufenberg is still hanging out here. Great elder. Had a great companionship invetory on saturday and things are going better within our tripanionship. I had alot on my mind and the other two elders had no idea. I love companionship inventory. It is soooooo good. I will use it in marriage. So those of you dont know what that is Preach My Gospel Page. 150. Its awesome!

we have had everyone and their uncle dropping us this last week. Kelly Burke & Fam dropped us. Curtis Cameron dropped us. New Investigators dropped us. But the lord is still continuing to bless Caper 1st ward area. We found 5 new investigators last week. We broke our goal of finding new investigators for our entire zone a week early for the month of march. Yes! So awesome. We are so excited for the great work here in casper.

Lavaughn- She is dating brother romero. Brother Romero was married to Tammy (Tammy died from Breast Cancer, She is a twin to Tonya Bertanogle in wright) Lavaughn has been coming to church for a month and came up and told us that she wants to join the church so BAM! We will be working with her soon and wanting to talk with her about the lessons and all. We are way excited.

So many great things are happening in the Casper Zone. So many people are excited to work and so many people are excited to go tracting. We are teaching so many lessons tracting these days. get those elders in Mesa to do some tracting. Let them show them how the boys in the S.D.R.C.M. actually work. :) Sounds like they are really struggling. Having 9 lessons a week. THEY HAVE 9 UNITS TO WORK WITH! Holy Buckets! Are they working? I dont want to hear because they are the zone leaders. We have to travel three days a week and we still teach 27 lessons last week with 21 of those to investigators! Come on! :) I will rebuke them on Mothers Day. I cant believe that is almost here holy buckets!

I sent a package home last week with some stuff I wanted to send home. I sent home the original copy of the Book of mormon I got on my misson keep that safe for me that and the big book of mormon and some things that I want yall to have. I will try and be better about sending some stuff home. I have too much junk. :)

Yum!!! I want mexican food sooooooo bad! They have a pretty good restaraunt here but its nothing compared. Man!

Kirk is welcome to break out the DJ equipment. I want 90% of the funds into my swiss bank account. Id #23543575 and the pin is 45624673 you will hear a man named rodrigo answer the phone. When rodrigo answers the phone say "the bird has no wings" he will transfer you to sara and sara will ask for my birthdate and my social. Then you can transfer the money. :)

I love this church so much. I love talking with people about the church and about the gospel. I love seeing people progress in the gospel and to see the light in their eyes when they find out the truth about the gospel.

well Glenrock, Wyoming is closer and closer to being opened. We are so excited! I cnat wait. They have the 2-pound burger which elder rudd is going to take on soon. :) You get your picture on the wall and a t-shirt. So excited! Elder Daltons picture is up on the wall :) I have to represent. :)

I am having such a blast, I am so excited to be on my mission Its definitly the best two years of our lives. :)

Mom, I love you

Dad, I love you

Everyone I love you

Pregnant sisters STOP IT! i WANT TO SEE THESE CUTIES!

I love you so much

Mi Familia,
How are you all?!!! STOP HAVING BABIES WHILE I AM GONE!!!!!!!! Not cool! I cant believe I will be coming home to a bunch of new ones. This is not cool!!! I cant wait to hear how all of it is going! Funny deal was I read whitneys card and was like huh?? What is she talking about. I paid no attention to riley's or caydens shirt. I just thought that the november 7th was chelseys date for some reason i didnt even think about it. But I did some investigating and was like HOLY BUCKETS! Another one. So awesome though. Congratulations!!! Very excited for you all!
I am trying to be better about writing letters. I am working on it. I am really really working on it. Just trying to make more effective time for everything. But I am glad everyone enjoyed their letters. More are going to be coming.
We have done alot of tracting the last little while and found ALOT of people to teach. Last week we found 9 new investigators. All are pretty solid. So we have a ton of appointments this week. We taught 25 lessons this week. Our zone went on a tear. We taught 116 total lessons to investigators and 180 total lessons we destroyed the mission!! We are doing such an awesome job. I am so proud of every single missionary here in casper. They are working their tails off!! So great. We got a call from the assistants this week to letting us know that president is probably going to open glenrock, wyoming in our zone too. It would be awesome. 9 areas! Yes! We have the smallest zone in the mission but we are still destroying the rest of the mission. I could talk about our zone forever! I would too, we are so proud of them!
Our dear friend elder laufenberg is still here in casper. I have pictures! I promise I am going to send them soon. Havent remembered my camera. But Elder Laufenberg is doing an awesome job. I love this guy. He is learning alot. We have alot in common and just get along really well. I am going to miss him when he leaves which may be never. He has been here for a month now and no signs of leaving yet. :) Being in a tri-panionship is so much fun. Never a dull moment.
Some of our new investigators...
Rob- Used to be taking the missionary lessons and used to date a girl in our ward. He is about 28 or so. Came to the door in a Skils USA Wyoming shirt. So what do you think I talked to him about. Oh yeah! We got to share alot about the gospel with him and me and him instantly hit it off. So we have an appointment with him next friday. It will be awesome though. We are way excited about rob.
Cassandra- Her and her fiance are looking for a church. (2 doors down from rob) we sat and talked to her for about 30 minutes about the book of mormon and how the gospel blesses families. She ate it all up. I was honestly thinking about inviting her to be baptized on the spot. I started to and someone cut me off! It was dumb! But she loved it! We are going to go over on sunday and talk about more. We talked alot about how the church and how parents raise their kids. I got to bare testimony on my up bringing and how I became who I am. But she is excited, we are excited!
Marcus- New guy we tracted into in a trailer court. His wife was killed last year on april 1st by a drunk driver. So its been very hard for him. But we are going into tomorrow teaching him the complete plan of salvation and how it can bless his life and how they can be together forever. Beyond this life. We are way excited for marcus.
Dan- Tried to shut the door on us and tried to get us to go away. But I just kept talking to him and bit by bit he opened the door more and more and talked more and more. I tell ya my talking is my best tool. But it was hilarious. He was such a nice guy and as soon as he started opening up and talking to us we started to talk about more and more. We have an appointment with him this week.
A.J. Motchen- Aj has friends that are LDS and has done some talking with missionaries and hasnt done a whole lot of looking into it. But wants to. Asked us alot of good questions. Invited us back and we will talk to him this week. ;)
Every missionary doesnt like tracting too much but not this elder! Its so awesome.
Curtis Cameron- We have been struggling with curtis to get him and gena to come to church but just havent been able to get them to make that next step. So we went over there and asked him to say a prayer at the end of the lessons and he just broke down and was in tears. It was so good to see him cry. Curtis is progressing and I honestly think he might come to church this next sunday.
Charly- Charly charly charly. Not much else I can say. But he is such a great guy. Said he got his answer too. He was asking god and know his answer was that the lds church was the truth and the way he needed to live but he still doesnt know if thats what god wants him to do. We were like HELLO CHARLY! WAKE UP! So he should be at church next sunday. It will be good.
Edward Tucker- For being an 87 year old man he is so lively and upbeat. He lives by himself. This week we met with him and next week he should be at church. Ed loved church 2 weeks ago. He told us I am just an old man dont bother with me. But we are not giving up on him and he is fine with that. He says well I might have to worry about my salvation now. He misses his wife terribly. But he is fantastic!
Lana- 7th Day Adventist. We just get a headache whenever we talk to her. Its been three weeks since we talked with her but she is still hung up on the 7th day deal. She thinks that god created the calendar. And all. But holy moly thats all she struggles with is the 7th day being the sabbath! Holy canoly. We might have to drop her. She is an artist and says that sh has no feeling when she paints. So we found out she basically does not feel gods love for her but we asked her to pray and ask him to show her that love. Both holy buckets, I wish we had a punching bag.
Trasnfers are on their way! Two weeks! So crazy! I am getting a new companero probably. We will see. But probably. I am thinking that elder cutler will be my new companion. Elder Cutler is awesome. he is over in sioux falls as zl right now.
St. Patricks day is on its way. I am so glad I am not in sheridan next to the drive thru bar. That was insane!
On thursday me and elder hilbun, elder hansen (DL), Elder Woffinden (DL), Elder Drabandt (Trainer) all driving up to gillette for leadership conference. it will be a good one. About 7 hours of meetings! Long but good. So yeah it will be fun. Just for the day and coming back that night.
I got roses on my mission it was funny. We went over to a less active family and their 12 year old came up to me and told me that "she likes my face and that I have pretty eyes" then gave me a rose. It was funny. I was like "thank you" HAHA it was funny. But I got a rose.
I got the coolest thing ever! Its a ping pong set. I got two paddles, 3 balls, a net and all in a nice carrying case all four six dollars! I got it! Its way awesome! You can put in on any table! i love it :)
This past week I had to do a baptismal interview with a lady getting baptized tomorrow and she is so excited to get baptized and very looking forward to it. But I got to the question about the law of tithing and she was like well if it comes down to me paying the electric bill or tithing its going to be electric bill. I got to bare my testimony of how my family got to so many hard times because of our faith in tithing. She had alot of awesome questions about it and I invited her to do so without fail and she said she would. :)
What a wonderful time to be a member of the church what a wonderful time to serve the lord in everything we do. What a wonderful time to know what god wants us to do because of a prophet of god. What a wonderful time to know without fail that god loves us. Count your many blessings, name them one by one. When you are discouraged thinking all is lost COUNT YOUR MANY BLESSINGS.
Follow the prophet he knows the way.
My message today is the church is true!!!!! Dont EVER stray away.
I love you all so much. Thank you for your support and strength. I feel your prayers. I love you all so very much
Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Email 3.7.11

Hey mi famila.

I have been ran crazy. I am emailing from casper because our Zone Leader Council was cancelled due to a crazy storm in Rapid City. We wouldnt of been able to get out of there tomorrow. So we arent having zone leader council. We will just meet for two hours next week in gillette when Leadership training comes. Zone Leader Council is just for the Zone Leaders and we meet in Rapid City at the mission home. Leadership is for all trainers, DL's. ZL's and AP's in Gillette for Rapid, Gillette and Casper. Then another one is held in bismark for sioux falls, fargo and bismark. Lots of meetings.

This week has been a real real struggle. We taught 29 lessons though. Twenty of them to investigators and we just did amazing but it didnt come easy for sure. Alot of trials this week. Specifically in our tri-panionship. Elder Hilbun had a rough week. Most of it started with the Kirkmeyers. Tom and Linda Kirkmeyer are a baptist couple. Way awesome but Elder Hilbun basically condemed tom to hell without knowing it and we went back the next day to apologize after we told him what he said and tom dropped us hard and was yelling and all. Not good. So tough there.

Melissa texted us and told us she didnt want to give up smoking. She wants to change her old life but wont quit the things that put her in the predicaments of her old life. Its a sad deal. But we have an appoitnment with her wednesday night and hopefully we can clear up alot of things. Really really tough though. She didnt come to church this week. So we will see.

The Burkes- DIdnt come to church this week so they cant be baptized of March 26th. Things are falling apart. The last person I taught that didnt smoke was Rachel Biederman in sioux falls! I hate cigarettes and everyone in our mission either chews, drinks or smokes or does drugs or all four!!! Satan is abound in the land. Alot of the time I feel like a therapist! It is so dumb. I want to shut down the whole deal about smoking. Everyone is talking about the kid that died in wisconsin from the energy drink. They want to ban energy drinks. I said before we ban energy drinks lets do Prohibition and no smoking!!!! Drives me nuts!!!

But yes that was my little rant.

Other than Melissa, Kirkmeyes and Burkes. We had a stellar week. We found five new investigators tracting. I think I am attracting the older generation. We brought an 87 year old man to church on sunday. We found him on the formers list. His name is Edward Tucker. Awesome guy. Lost his wife 20 years ago and is very torn up about that. Taught him alot about the plan of salvation and it is all going well. We will talk with him this week more. We tracted into a episcopalian couple and they are also masons. THey have family who are members and they are in their 80's. Very funny. I just love the elderly. :)

Bunns- Oh man!!!! On saturday night me and Brother Hadsel went over to the bunns and the family consists of Jeremy (dad) Mariah (Mom) Maddison (13) Cassidy (10) J.D. (8) I love this family so much! They are my favorite family in Casper for sure. But they are all investigators and have been working with all of them. Jeremy is the one who makes the decisions. Mariah wants to be baptized so do all the kids and we finally made some head way with the family. We visited for a while and I went to start the lesson and talked about christs love and how its a pure love and how we love them and how his love is their in the home and how we feel it. So, I ended the lesson and jeremy stopped me before the prayer and was like. I have to say something. For a while I thought about the church and everything. There is still alot I dont understand but the spirit that I just felt is something that gives me hope and faith that you are a representative of christ!!! Oh man!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited to keep working with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) By the way corned beef and cabbage is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!

Dan & Abby Wright- Investigator couple who is the dryest mormons I have ever seen. We taught them the plan of salvation and they just ate it up. So we will see how the next visit goes.

Transfer calls are on March 26th and transfers are MArch 28th- March 30th. Elder Hilbun might go AP but who knows. He has been out for about 18 months. He goes home in october. But yeah. I dont know. Elder Laufenberg is still with us no news on what will happen with him. But I hope he stays. I love the guy. He is alot of fun. Great teacher!

This past week broke about every zone record ever in the S.D.R.C.M. Oh man!!!! I love being able to work with these elders! They are so awesome!!! We will probably have about four missionaries leaving our zone again. No clue who or where. But I dont know who I will get as a companion either. So we will see. But either way it will be a blast.

Time flies by so fast and so crazy. I dont want to be out a year. Then my time will go by even faster!!! Not cool! I love this work and am so grateful to be a missionary.

This week has been alot of reflection time for me and thinking about my relationship with heavenly father and how I can come closer to him. How i can strengthen my faith in him. I love my heavenly father and I live my life by this quote: "The closest distance between a problem and a Solution is your distance between your knees and the floor" Prayer is so key to all we do. I counted one day and we said 45 prayers one day. Doesnt have to be a full kneeling down prayer. Communicate with heavenly father he wants to give you blessings! HE wants to talk to you. Are you letting him know what is going on.

I think about where my friends are serving their missions: costa rica, florida, phillipines, brazil, dominican and I am in wyoming. But I know and feel that there is only one place I want to be. That is here in the midst of the cowboys and the wonderful people here in wyoming I love this so much. Never thought I would fall in love with wyoming. But it happened. :)

I am a missionary and I love serving the lord. I love you all so very much!!!

I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Hey!
Well very very very eventful week we have been running around like crazy. First off to answer questions. Driving privliges not given back yet mbut might at the end of the transfer. Knee doing alot better. Keeping an eye on it and making sure that nothing goes wrong with it. My districts year mark just passed I know. But my year mark I have no Idea probably like may 10th. No clue over here. But oh well I'll get home eventually. :) But not for another year! I love it! But can you believe it is basically a year!!!! Holy moly!! Time flies! I knew Elder Foulger from school he lives like over by aunt patty. But. Elder Simpson was not trained by elder Hilbun. Elder Hilbun trained Elder Callister and Elder Hill.
We learned how to do Balloon animals from Brother Lindholm, he is a ward missionary and he is a professional balloon guy. It was alot of fun. Tonight we have dinner with them. We will learn more! :)
But yeah. I think those are most of the questions.
Melissa, we had to push her date back to March 26th. The same date as Kelly, Sierra & Kane. But we will work it out. We need to get all of them to church first. So we will be working on that for sure and helping both Melissa and the burkes prepare themselves not only to enter into the waters of baptism but to wear a different kind of white when they enter into the temple.
We had a crazy week.
Monday president layton came to town and did interviews before zone conference on tuesday. I finally found good mexican food (I say good meaning decent) So I wanted to take president there so he and sister layton would get some good stuff. They loved it. Finally they found good mexican food in the SDRCM. Honest to goodness the closest thing to good mexican food is TACO BELL!! But the place is called Guadalajara its really good food. But me and elder hilbun had a scheme that we were going to pay for them. The bill came to me but president demanded it and was like "i will send you home" I said "well I have already been sent home once, whats the hurt for another time." But president got the bill!!! :)
Tuesday was Zone Conference. Oh man! What a wonderful day! Me and Elder Hilbun got to give just a awesome training on working with members it was a blast! I love zone conference. I got to see my boy. Elder Hammond came down and I love that kid. It was awesome. I love it.
On saturday Gene & Nancy Hanson from wright gave us a call and took us out to eat for lunch. It was so good to see them!! It was so awesome! I loved it. We got to reminise. Nancy kept telling me "elder rudd changed my life" I was in tears! Gosh. we were at a restaraunt no need to get mushy! :) But I love these people I have met on my mission! I cant wait for all ya'll to meet them. They are so great. I miss wright most days. But my love for casper keeps growing and growing.
The bertanogles in the ward here im casper (bishop bertanogles brother) are on their way down to phoenix this coming weekend. I gave them my card and told them to look my family up. They might do so. So might be getting a call. just fyi. By the way can you print off a list of some awesome restaraunts in phoenix and mesa and send them to me. They are looking for awesome mexican food. Addresses too. Thank you! But they are excited. They seriously might look ya'll up. :)
The Apostle will be awesome to have in our mission!! After this transfer I honestly think Elder Hilbun might go AP. So either way he will be leaving casper. But then I will probably have one more transfer here and will probably end up in Rapid City. Just how the zone leaders are going. But who knows. It will be alot of fun. every time before transfers its always exciting you could be going to minot you could be going to fargo, sioux falls. Wherever its awesome.
The weather has been awesome here only got below zero a couple times. I just shaved my head. Not completely but pretty short. I thought I was using a three but ended up being a two. Its was a huge difference. But my head gets so cold now. :) I love this mission. Elder Laufenberg is always talking about brazil and all. I know how bad I wanted to go to a foreign speaking mission. But holy moly I am so foreign. I am such a city boy. Now I am being turned into a cowboy. Its funny how I speak. I always worked on my speach for radio and being a DJ. But now I am as redneck as they come. :) I know all these things about branding. horses, drillin, mining, and chew and everything. I tell ya I have been transformed into a Wyoming Cowboy. :) There is a belt buckle in gillette I want to get. it says Cowboys of Faith. :)
I want each and everyone of you who is a member of the church, investigating the church, not as active as you should be to read my words:
Next to the atonement on jesus christ the most important thing that has ever happened on this earth is the restoration of the gospel of jesus christ through the prophet Joseph Smith.
On a spring morning joseph smith went into a grove of trees and knelt down and asked god for the truth on how he could follow him best.
He said:
I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head
above the brightness of the sun
which decended gradually until it fell upon me
When the light rested upon me
I saw two personages
Whose brightness and glory defy ALL description
standing above me in the air.
One of them spoke unto me
Calling me by name and pointed to the other saying
"this is my beloved son here him"
In that instance jospeh learned three things about god the eternal father and jesus christ. 1. They are real. 2. They are two seperate beings 3. They have bodies of flesh and bones.
At the age of 14 years old joseph smith received an answer to his prayer like all of us can.
Jospeh Smith was a prophet!!! today Thomas S. Monson is a prophet!!!! The true church of jesus christ is on the earth. Today we are lead an guided by our savior. How comforting it is to know that a prophet is on the earth!! What a blessing that is! Next question: Why are we not listening to his counsel?? Brothers and Sisters his counsel is christs counsel. I love knowing that.
What a blessing it is to proudly wave the banner and stand as a witness that Jesus Christ lives!! His church is here! Joseph Smith is a prophet! DO NOT BE SHY ABOUT THIS MESSAGE!!!!!!!!! Every HAS to know. Brothers and Sisters missionary work is not a suggestion, ITS A COMMANDMENT. Open your mouths! Open your mouths and in the very second your mouth will be filled with what to say. Please help heavenly father in gathering back his children. Please help all of us in returning to be forever and an heavenly and eternal family.
Its true brothers and sisters. What else matters -Corey Rudd :)
I know it to be true with all of my heart.
I love you all very much. Please never forget what is most important.
Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd
