Transfers!!!

Mi Familia,

Well welcome to crazy town USA. Casper, Wyoming. I am elder rudd and I will be your guide! Transfers have been nuts. Saturday we got our calls from President. Elder Hilbun is leaving casper and going to Minot, ND. Elder Hardwick from Gillette my old Zone Leader is coming down to Casper to be my companion. Crazy! I know. But its going insane.

Our zone now looks like this

1st ward- elder rudd & Elder Hardwick & Elder Laufenberg
2nd ward- Elder Shumway & Elder Drabandt
3rd ward- Elder Woffinden (DL) & Elder Neff (New)
4th ward- Elder CLinger & Elder Ardnt (Same)
5th ward- Sister Addison & Sister Hetling
6th ward- ELder Call (DL) new & Elder Nielsen
8th ward- Sister Webb & Sister Monson
DOuglas- Elder Hatch & Elder Stucki
Glenrock (NEw area opened) Elder Buchanon & Greenie

We are so excited. Me and elder hardwick plan to lead the zone to even to higher goals. We had a slower week this week. We still topped the mission but for casper it is slow. We need to stay above. I am so proud of all the elders and sisters here in casper!

Sad News about wright. THEY CLOSED WRIGHT!!!! maN! They took the missionaries out of wright and who knows when they will put them back. :( Bummer! But Elder Hammond got transfered to Marshall, MN which is the national headquarters for Schwanns. :) But he is excited to leave. But I am so bummed. Everytime we stop in wright we will have to stop in wright and see people. Elder Hardwick being from gillette and me in wright we are going to have some conflicting times. But oh well.

Laufenberg is still in Casper. Today I checked mail and there was a letter from the mission office I told him it was his VISA he was so stoked but it wasnt. :(

Melissa Henricks- oh my she is going down hill in a spiral she is smoking about 4 packs a day now and yeah. She still wants to bible studies and all but she is not doing well. She plans on leaving casper and getting out though.

We got a call from curtis cameron this past week and he dropped us hard core! :( HE said it was causing a riff between him and his wife. But oh well. Missionaries will come to him again and they will accept the gospel. They live right by a member so we are going to sick a member on them.

Debra- is a new investigator she is starting to read and pray and so far so good we are excited to continue teaching her she lives a mexican style villa reminds me of home so much. ]

Ed- still kicking and has been to church twice now. He is close. He always talks about his salvation and all. So he is definitly progressing.

MArcus- he is having a hard time. his wife was killed in a car accident she was hit by a drunk driver. the anniversary of her death is april 1st. So he is really having a hard time. But we are there for him. LAst time he broke down. He came a gave me a hug though. It is such a good time when we meet with him.

Rob- Such an awesome guy. We met with him on saturday and will meet with him sometime this week.

Oh yeah! Guess who we met with last night. The Johnsons. They are the family who the little girl passed away on Casper Mountain being hit by the snow boarded but they finally came home and Kelly Johnson is looking alot better. Alot of brain damage and nerve damage. But its good. So awesome.

I know its way short. Next week will be longer.

I love you all so much.

Love,
Elder Rudd

Hey,

Well how is my family and friends doing on this awesome day. Casper, Wyoming is warming up. It usually is about 55 during the day. The suit coats come off very soon! YAy! So excited! But the weather is beautuful except the darn wind! Its insane!!! But I love it here like always!!

Tell grandma and Shannon that cards are on their way didnt get a chance to get them out with Leadership Conference in gillette! Sorry about that. But mom thank you very much for your card on St. Patricks Day it meant alot to me.
Being in leadership is always a burden. Dealing with the sisters here in casper have given me so many grey hairs. I found out that one of the sisters doesnt like me at all. They told their DL that "i dont praise them enough" I talked with President about it and he just started laughing. Because as a zone leader you hardly have any communication with anyone in your zone you do everything through your DL's so yeah. Just been dealing with some zone issues. We broke more records this week. The zone is on fire. I think some of the elders and sisters think I am too strict. But oh well. I know how much potential they have and they are seeing it. Me and Elder Hilbun are just two really driven ZL's and we dont expect less out of us so why would we expect less out of them. So just alot of missionary drama their. But things are on the up swing.

Transfer Calls happen this saturday. Elder Hilbun will be leaving casper. I am going to guess my new companion to be either Elder Wolfe or Elder Cutler or a New ZL. Elder Wolfe is in Minot. ND and Elder Cutler is in Sioux Falls, SD as ZL's. Elder Hilbun has taught me alot and we work well together but basically elder hilbun is my elder farmer. We dont mesh well. But I will miss the guy alot. Elder Laufenberg is still hanging out here. Great elder. Had a great companionship invetory on saturday and things are going better within our tripanionship. I had alot on my mind and the other two elders had no idea. I love companionship inventory. It is soooooo good. I will use it in marriage. So those of you dont know what that is Preach My Gospel Page. 150. Its awesome!

we have had everyone and their uncle dropping us this last week. Kelly Burke & Fam dropped us. Curtis Cameron dropped us. New Investigators dropped us. But the lord is still continuing to bless Caper 1st ward area. We found 5 new investigators last week. We broke our goal of finding new investigators for our entire zone a week early for the month of march. Yes! So awesome. We are so excited for the great work here in casper.

Lavaughn- She is dating brother romero. Brother Romero was married to Tammy (Tammy died from Breast Cancer, She is a twin to Tonya Bertanogle in wright) Lavaughn has been coming to church for a month and came up and told us that she wants to join the church so BAM! We will be working with her soon and wanting to talk with her about the lessons and all. We are way excited.

So many great things are happening in the Casper Zone. So many people are excited to work and so many people are excited to go tracting. We are teaching so many lessons tracting these days. get those elders in Mesa to do some tracting. Let them show them how the boys in the S.D.R.C.M. actually work. :) Sounds like they are really struggling. Having 9 lessons a week. THEY HAVE 9 UNITS TO WORK WITH! Holy Buckets! Are they working? I dont want to hear because they are the zone leaders. We have to travel three days a week and we still teach 27 lessons last week with 21 of those to investigators! Come on! :) I will rebuke them on Mothers Day. I cant believe that is almost here holy buckets!

I sent a package home last week with some stuff I wanted to send home. I sent home the original copy of the Book of mormon I got on my misson keep that safe for me that and the big book of mormon and some things that I want yall to have. I will try and be better about sending some stuff home. I have too much junk. :)

Yum!!! I want mexican food sooooooo bad! They have a pretty good restaraunt here but its nothing compared. Man!

Kirk is welcome to break out the DJ equipment. I want 90% of the funds into my swiss bank account. Id #23543575 and the pin is 45624673 you will hear a man named rodrigo answer the phone. When rodrigo answers the phone say "the bird has no wings" he will transfer you to sara and sara will ask for my birthdate and my social. Then you can transfer the money. :)

I love this church so much. I love talking with people about the church and about the gospel. I love seeing people progress in the gospel and to see the light in their eyes when they find out the truth about the gospel.

well Glenrock, Wyoming is closer and closer to being opened. We are so excited! I cnat wait. They have the 2-pound burger which elder rudd is going to take on soon. :) You get your picture on the wall and a t-shirt. So excited! Elder Daltons picture is up on the wall :) I have to represent. :)

I am having such a blast, I am so excited to be on my mission Its definitly the best two years of our lives. :)

Mom, I love you

Dad, I love you

Everyone I love you

Pregnant sisters STOP IT! i WANT TO SEE THESE CUTIES!

I love you so much

Love,
Elder Michael C. Rudd

Mi Familia,
How are you all?!!! STOP HAVING BABIES WHILE I AM GONE!!!!!!!! Not cool! I cant believe I will be coming home to a bunch of new ones. This is not cool!!! I cant wait to hear how all of it is going! Funny deal was I read whitneys card and was like huh?? What is she talking about. I paid no attention to riley's or caydens shirt. I just thought that the november 7th was chelseys date for some reason i didnt even think about it. But I did some investigating and was like HOLY BUCKETS! Another one. So awesome though. Congratulations!!! Very excited for you all!
I am trying to be better about writing letters. I am working on it. I am really really working on it. Just trying to make more effective time for everything. But I am glad everyone enjoyed their letters. More are going to be coming.
We have done alot of tracting the last little while and found ALOT of people to teach. Last week we found 9 new investigators. All are pretty solid. So we have a ton of appointments this week. We taught 25 lessons this week. Our zone went on a tear. We taught 116 total lessons to investigators and 180 total lessons we destroyed the mission!! We are doing such an awesome job. I am so proud of every single missionary here in casper. They are working their tails off!! So great. We got a call from the assistants this week to letting us know that president is probably going to open glenrock, wyoming in our zone too. It would be awesome. 9 areas! Yes! We have the smallest zone in the mission but we are still destroying the rest of the mission. I could talk about our zone forever! I would too, we are so proud of them!
Our dear friend elder laufenberg is still here in casper. I have pictures! I promise I am going to send them soon. Havent remembered my camera. But Elder Laufenberg is doing an awesome job. I love this guy. He is learning alot. We have alot in common and just get along really well. I am going to miss him when he leaves which may be never. He has been here for a month now and no signs of leaving yet. :) Being in a tri-panionship is so much fun. Never a dull moment.
Some of our new investigators...
Rob- Used to be taking the missionary lessons and used to date a girl in our ward. He is about 28 or so. Came to the door in a Skils USA Wyoming shirt. So what do you think I talked to him about. Oh yeah! We got to share alot about the gospel with him and me and him instantly hit it off. So we have an appointment with him next friday. It will be awesome though. We are way excited about rob.
Cassandra- Her and her fiance are looking for a church. (2 doors down from rob) we sat and talked to her for about 30 minutes about the book of mormon and how the gospel blesses families. She ate it all up. I was honestly thinking about inviting her to be baptized on the spot. I started to and someone cut me off! It was dumb! But she loved it! We are going to go over on sunday and talk about more. We talked alot about how the church and how parents raise their kids. I got to bare testimony on my up bringing and how I became who I am. But she is excited, we are excited!
Marcus- New guy we tracted into in a trailer court. His wife was killed last year on april 1st by a drunk driver. So its been very hard for him. But we are going into tomorrow teaching him the complete plan of salvation and how it can bless his life and how they can be together forever. Beyond this life. We are way excited for marcus.
Dan- Tried to shut the door on us and tried to get us to go away. But I just kept talking to him and bit by bit he opened the door more and more and talked more and more. I tell ya my talking is my best tool. But it was hilarious. He was such a nice guy and as soon as he started opening up and talking to us we started to talk about more and more. We have an appointment with him this week.
A.J. Motchen- Aj has friends that are LDS and has done some talking with missionaries and hasnt done a whole lot of looking into it. But wants to. Asked us alot of good questions. Invited us back and we will talk to him this week. ;)
Every missionary doesnt like tracting too much but not this elder! Its so awesome.
Curtis Cameron- We have been struggling with curtis to get him and gena to come to church but just havent been able to get them to make that next step. So we went over there and asked him to say a prayer at the end of the lessons and he just broke down and was in tears. It was so good to see him cry. Curtis is progressing and I honestly think he might come to church this next sunday.
Charly- Charly charly charly. Not much else I can say. But he is such a great guy. Said he got his answer too. He was asking god and know his answer was that the lds church was the truth and the way he needed to live but he still doesnt know if thats what god wants him to do. We were like HELLO CHARLY! WAKE UP! So he should be at church next sunday. It will be good.
Edward Tucker- For being an 87 year old man he is so lively and upbeat. He lives by himself. This week we met with him and next week he should be at church. Ed loved church 2 weeks ago. He told us I am just an old man dont bother with me. But we are not giving up on him and he is fine with that. He says well I might have to worry about my salvation now. He misses his wife terribly. But he is fantastic!
Lana- 7th Day Adventist. We just get a headache whenever we talk to her. Its been three weeks since we talked with her but she is still hung up on the 7th day deal. She thinks that god created the calendar. And all. But holy moly thats all she struggles with is the 7th day being the sabbath! Holy canoly. We might have to drop her. She is an artist and says that sh has no feeling when she paints. So we found out she basically does not feel gods love for her but we asked her to pray and ask him to show her that love. Both holy buckets, I wish we had a punching bag.
Trasnfers are on their way! Two weeks! So crazy! I am getting a new companero probably. We will see. But probably. I am thinking that elder cutler will be my new companion. Elder Cutler is awesome. he is over in sioux falls as zl right now.
St. Patricks day is on its way. I am so glad I am not in sheridan next to the drive thru bar. That was insane!
On thursday me and elder hilbun, elder hansen (DL), Elder Woffinden (DL), Elder Drabandt (Trainer) all driving up to gillette for leadership conference. it will be a good one. About 7 hours of meetings! Long but good. So yeah it will be fun. Just for the day and coming back that night.
I got roses on my mission it was funny. We went over to a less active family and their 12 year old came up to me and told me that "she likes my face and that I have pretty eyes" then gave me a rose. It was funny. I was like "thank you" HAHA it was funny. But I got a rose.
I got the coolest thing ever! Its a ping pong set. I got two paddles, 3 balls, a net and all in a nice carrying case all four six dollars! I got it! Its way awesome! You can put in on any table! i love it :)
This past week I had to do a baptismal interview with a lady getting baptized tomorrow and she is so excited to get baptized and very looking forward to it. But I got to the question about the law of tithing and she was like well if it comes down to me paying the electric bill or tithing its going to be electric bill. I got to bare my testimony of how my family got to so many hard times because of our faith in tithing. She had alot of awesome questions about it and I invited her to do so without fail and she said she would. :)
What a wonderful time to be a member of the church what a wonderful time to serve the lord in everything we do. What a wonderful time to know what god wants us to do because of a prophet of god. What a wonderful time to know without fail that god loves us. Count your many blessings, name them one by one. When you are discouraged thinking all is lost COUNT YOUR MANY BLESSINGS.
Follow the prophet he knows the way.
My message today is the church is true!!!!! Dont EVER stray away.
I love you all so much. Thank you for your support and strength. I feel your prayers. I love you all so very much
Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd

Email 3.7.11

Hey mi famila.

I have been ran crazy. I am emailing from casper because our Zone Leader Council was cancelled due to a crazy storm in Rapid City. We wouldnt of been able to get out of there tomorrow. So we arent having zone leader council. We will just meet for two hours next week in gillette when Leadership training comes. Zone Leader Council is just for the Zone Leaders and we meet in Rapid City at the mission home. Leadership is for all trainers, DL's. ZL's and AP's in Gillette for Rapid, Gillette and Casper. Then another one is held in bismark for sioux falls, fargo and bismark. Lots of meetings.

This week has been a real real struggle. We taught 29 lessons though. Twenty of them to investigators and we just did amazing but it didnt come easy for sure. Alot of trials this week. Specifically in our tri-panionship. Elder Hilbun had a rough week. Most of it started with the Kirkmeyers. Tom and Linda Kirkmeyer are a baptist couple. Way awesome but Elder Hilbun basically condemed tom to hell without knowing it and we went back the next day to apologize after we told him what he said and tom dropped us hard and was yelling and all. Not good. So tough there.

Melissa texted us and told us she didnt want to give up smoking. She wants to change her old life but wont quit the things that put her in the predicaments of her old life. Its a sad deal. But we have an appoitnment with her wednesday night and hopefully we can clear up alot of things. Really really tough though. She didnt come to church this week. So we will see.

The Burkes- DIdnt come to church this week so they cant be baptized of March 26th. Things are falling apart. The last person I taught that didnt smoke was Rachel Biederman in sioux falls! I hate cigarettes and everyone in our mission either chews, drinks or smokes or does drugs or all four!!! Satan is abound in the land. Alot of the time I feel like a therapist! It is so dumb. I want to shut down the whole deal about smoking. Everyone is talking about the kid that died in wisconsin from the energy drink. They want to ban energy drinks. I said before we ban energy drinks lets do Prohibition and no smoking!!!! Drives me nuts!!!

But yes that was my little rant.

Other than Melissa, Kirkmeyes and Burkes. We had a stellar week. We found five new investigators tracting. I think I am attracting the older generation. We brought an 87 year old man to church on sunday. We found him on the formers list. His name is Edward Tucker. Awesome guy. Lost his wife 20 years ago and is very torn up about that. Taught him alot about the plan of salvation and it is all going well. We will talk with him this week more. We tracted into a episcopalian couple and they are also masons. THey have family who are members and they are in their 80's. Very funny. I just love the elderly. :)

Bunns- Oh man!!!! On saturday night me and Brother Hadsel went over to the bunns and the family consists of Jeremy (dad) Mariah (Mom) Maddison (13) Cassidy (10) J.D. (8) I love this family so much! They are my favorite family in Casper for sure. But they are all investigators and have been working with all of them. Jeremy is the one who makes the decisions. Mariah wants to be baptized so do all the kids and we finally made some head way with the family. We visited for a while and I went to start the lesson and talked about christs love and how its a pure love and how we love them and how his love is their in the home and how we feel it. So, I ended the lesson and jeremy stopped me before the prayer and was like. I have to say something. For a while I thought about the church and everything. There is still alot I dont understand but the spirit that I just felt is something that gives me hope and faith that you are a representative of christ!!! Oh man!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited to keep working with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) By the way corned beef and cabbage is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!

Dan & Abby Wright- Investigator couple who is the dryest mormons I have ever seen. We taught them the plan of salvation and they just ate it up. So we will see how the next visit goes.

Transfer calls are on March 26th and transfers are MArch 28th- March 30th. Elder Hilbun might go AP but who knows. He has been out for about 18 months. He goes home in october. But yeah. I dont know. Elder Laufenberg is still with us no news on what will happen with him. But I hope he stays. I love the guy. He is alot of fun. Great teacher!

This past week broke about every zone record ever in the S.D.R.C.M. Oh man!!!! I love being able to work with these elders! They are so awesome!!! We will probably have about four missionaries leaving our zone again. No clue who or where. But I dont know who I will get as a companion either. So we will see. But either way it will be a blast.

Time flies by so fast and so crazy. I dont want to be out a year. Then my time will go by even faster!!! Not cool! I love this work and am so grateful to be a missionary.

This week has been alot of reflection time for me and thinking about my relationship with heavenly father and how I can come closer to him. How i can strengthen my faith in him. I love my heavenly father and I live my life by this quote: "The closest distance between a problem and a Solution is your distance between your knees and the floor" Prayer is so key to all we do. I counted one day and we said 45 prayers one day. Doesnt have to be a full kneeling down prayer. Communicate with heavenly father he wants to give you blessings! HE wants to talk to you. Are you letting him know what is going on.

I think about where my friends are serving their missions: costa rica, florida, phillipines, brazil, dominican and I am in wyoming. But I know and feel that there is only one place I want to be. That is here in the midst of the cowboys and the wonderful people here in wyoming I love this so much. Never thought I would fall in love with wyoming. But it happened. :)

I am a missionary and I love serving the lord. I love you all so very much!!!

I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Elder Michael Corey Rudd
